Title

Resolution to Approve Amendment No. 1 to the Service Contract with Metro Controls, Inc. for On-Call Mechanical Services ($250,000.00)

Memorandum

Attached for your review and consideration is a resolution to approve and authorize Amendment Number 1 to the contract with Metro Controls, Inc. (previously Metro Environmental, Inc.).  On July 6, 2015 City Council approved the On-Call Mechanical Services Contract with Metro Controls, Inc. to perform mechanical maintenance, repair or installation services on City Facilities including the swimming pools, ice rinks and Wheeler Service Center by approving Resolution R-15-233.

Amendment Number 1 will increase the available funding from $200,000.00 to $250,000.00 for fiscal year 2018.  The amendment is required due to emergency mechanical work necessary to ensure Veteran’s Memorial Park pool opened on schedule.

While attempting to stabilize the hot water system at Veteran’s Memorial Park on May 25, 2018, the hot water tank failed beyond repair.  This failure required emergency work by Metro Controls, Inc. to make certain hot water would be available for the scheduled pool opening on May 26, 2018.  Failure to provide hot water would have prevented opening the pool for the season.

Funding for the additional work by Metro Controls, Inc. is available in the approved FY18 Parks Maintenance and Capital Improvement Millage Budget.

Metro Controls, Inc. complies with the requirements of the City’s Non-Discrimination and Living Wage ordinances.
