Memorandum
To obtain a charitable gaming license under Michigan law, a nonprofit organization is required to submit a resolution from its local governing body recognizing it as a community-based organization.

Parent Teacher Organization Forsythe Junior High School is a 501(c)3 civic nonprofit organization that supports the Forsythe Junior High School.

Passage of the attached resolution will allow the Parent Teacher Organization Forsythe Junior High School to hold a silent auction with a raffle at The Polo Fields Golf and Country Club Ann Arbor. Passage of this resolution is required in order to obtain final approval from the Charitable Gaming Division of the Bureau of State Lottery for this event and any future events.

Whereas, P.A. 382 of 1972, as amended, requires that local civic nonprofit organizations be recognized by resolution adopted by the local governmental subdivision in which the organization conducts its principal activities and that a copy of said resolution be filed with any application for a license to conduct a bingo, raffle or charity game(s);

Whereas, Parent Teacher Organization Forsythe Junior High School has requested that it be recognized as a nonprofit organization operating in the community for the purpose of obtaining a charitable gaming license; and

Whereas, Parent Teacher Organization Forsythe Junior High School is a local civic nonprofit organization as defined by P.A. 382 of 1972, as amended, which should be recognized for its ability to provide volunteers and funds that enrich the education of all students, offering equality of opportunity through the building community with parents and teachers and opportuni...
