Resolution to Accept a Quitclaim Deed from Washtenaw County for Land Near the Ann-Ashley Structure (Old Jail Site) (8 Votes Required)
Memorandum
This property was formerly part of the old jail site owned by the County. Staff believes the area was intended to be transferred to the City years ago along with other deeds. However, a survey revealed this property had not been included in prior deeds. This property is part of the area currently used for access to the surface parking lots at the corner of North Main and Ann and beneath the Ann-Ashley structure.
This quitclaim deed is conveyed without cost to the City. Acceptance of this deed is recommended.

Whereas, Washtenaw County has signed a quitclaim deed to the City for property described as:
A part of Lot 5 and the Alley running Northerly and Southerly across the North ½ of Block 1 North of Huron Street, Range 3 East, “Original Plat of the Village of Ann Arbor” according to the plat thereof as recorded in Transcripts, Pages 152 and 153, Washtenaw County Records, described as:
Commencing at the Northeast Corner of Lot 7 in said Block; thence along the East line of said Lot 7, Lot 8 and the West line of North Main Street South 01 degree 46 minutes 32 seconds West 132.53 feet to the Southeast Corner of said Lot 8; thence along the South line of said Lot 8, the North line of Lot 1 and the North line of Lot 2 North 88 degrees 03 minutes 38 seconds West 124.21 feet to the Southwest Corner of said Lot 8 and the POINT OF BEGINNING; thence continuing along the North Line of Lots 2 and 3 North 88 degrees 03 minutes 38 seconds West 21.85 feet to the Southeast Corner of a Public Alley recorded in Liber 11, Page 630 and in Liber 74, Page 623; thence along the East line of said Alley North 01 degrees 48 minutes 03 seconds East 45.27 feet; thence along the Southerly and Westerly lines of “PARCEL I” as described in a deed recorded in Liber 2127, Page 531, Washtenaw County Records, in the following five (5) courses: 1) South 88 degrees 03 minutes 46 seconds East 7.85 feet; 2) South 01 degrees 48 minutes 03 seconds West 23.50 feet; 3) South 88 degrees 03 minutes 46 seconds East 6.00 feet; 4) South 01 degree 48 minutes 03 seconds West 12.25 feet, and 5) South 88 degrees 03 minutes 38 seconds East 8.00 feet to the East line of the Original Alley running between Lots 5, 6, 7 and 8 according to said “Original Plat”; thence along said East line South 01 degree 48 minutes 03 seconds West 9.52 feet to the POINT OF BEGINNING, containing 562 square feet of land, more or less.
RESOLVED, That the City of Ann Arbor hereby accept this deed.
