Memorandum
The attached resolution authorizes the purchase of one 2018 Freightliner Model 2106 single axle truck chassis with a Terex Hi-Ranger XT PRO 60/70 Aerial Device at $174,973.00 and one 2018 Freightliner Model 2106 single axle truck chassis with a Terex Commander 4045 Rotating Digger Derrick Device at $237,192.00. Total cost is $412,165.00 through the National Joint Purchasing Alliance (NJPA) cooperative purchasing program (contract #042815-TER) for use by the Public Services Area-Public Works Unit.

The Hi-Ranger XT PRO 60/70 truck listed in this resolution will replace an existing 2002 GMC Terex 60 (#6617) bucket truck which has 8,707 hours of use and whose repair cost has exceeded 139% of the purchase price of the vehicle. This unit is the primary piece of equipment for crews involved in routine and emergency urban forestry operations. Forestry utilizes the Hi-Ranger daily for tree pruning, removal, cabling, hazard limb removal and in response to major weather events such as windstorms.

The Terex Commander 4045 truck listed in this resolution will replace an existing 2004 Sterling Digger Derrick (#4615) truck which has 10,114 hours of use and whose repair cost has exceeded 140% of the purchase price of the vehicle. Signs & Signals uses the digger derrick to dig foundations and set poles for traffic signals and streetlights. The truck is also used to support other departments around the City when a crane is needed.

Terex Utilities Inc., White House, Tennessee was awarded Contract Number 042815-TER by the National Joint Purchasing Alliance cooperative purchasing program for Aerial Devices. The City of Ann Arbor is a member of the NJPA.
