Resolution to Approve E. Washington Street Closing for the Arbor Brewing Company 22nd Anniversary Celebration - Friday, August 4, 2017 from 1:00 PM until 1:00 AM on Saturday, August 5, 2017

Attached for your consideration and approval is a request from the Arbor Brewing Company to close E. Washington Street from Main Street to the alley before the parking structure from 1:00 PM on Friday, August 4, 2017 to 1:00 AM on Saturday, August 5, 2017 for their 22nd Anniversary Celebration. The parking structure will remain open during this event. The actual event runs from 5:00 PM until midnight with the additional time to be used for set-up and breakdown of the event.
The sponsor, Arbor Brewing Company, is celebrating its 22nd year anniversary and will be holding a block party on August 4, 2017. All are welcome to celebrate the occasion. There will be music provided by live bands throughout the event. Notification of the street closure will be provided through flyers and/or face-to-face contact with impacted businesses/residents. Notification will also occur via the City’s website, GovDelivery, print and social media at least two weeks prior to the event.
The sponsor agrees to obtain all necessary permits, to provide evidence of proper liability insurance as required, to comply with all City regulations governing the use of the streets and will reimburse the City for all event expenses.
The sponsor will submit an application for approval from the State of Michigan Liquor
Control Commission for temporary sales, service and consumption of alcoholic beverages in the defined areas pursuant to the M.L.C.C. regulations.

Whereas, The City has received a request from Arbor Brewing Company to close E. Washington Street from Main Street to the alley before the parking structure from 1:00 PM on Friday, August 4, 2017 to 1:00 AM on Saturday, August 5, 2017 for their 22nd Anniversary Celebration;
Whereas, The street closures will be signed, barricaded and properly supervised by the sponsor;
Whereas, The sponsor requires the approval of the Michigan Liquor Control Commission for a special outdoor liquor license;
Whereas, The sponsor agrees to obtain all necessary permits, to provide evidence of proper liability insurance as required, to comply with all City regulations governing the use of the streets and will reimburse the City for all event expenses; and
Whereas, Notification of the street closing will be provided through the City’s website, GovDelivery, flyers and face-to-face contact with businesses/residents;
RESOLVED, That City Council approve the closing of E. Washington Street from Main Street to the alley before the parking structure from 1:00 PM on Friday, August 4, 2017 until 1:00 AM on Saturday, August 5, 2017 for the 22nd Anniversary Celebration.
