Title
Resolution to Approve Fees for the 2016 Ann Arbor Art Fairs, July 20-25, 2016
Memorandum
The 2016 Ann Arbor Art Fairs are scheduled for Thursday, July 21 to Sunday, July 24 2016. The Ann Arbor Art Fairs have previously been held Wednesday through Saturday. The event is sponsored by five separate organizations, each covering separate but adjacent portions of downtown Ann Arbor. Each organization will be providing insurance in accordance with the City's requirements for use of the public right-of-way.

The annual resolution closes streets and allows temporary outdoor sales within the public right-of-way. On June 1, 2015, Council approved the street closures and the shift in days (R-15-177) for the 2016 Art Fair to be held from Thursday to Sunday instead of Wednesday to Saturday. The total additional City charges for the shift in days is estimated at $17,303 and each fair will thus be charged the following:

Ann Arbor Street Art Fair $10,088
South University Area Association $16,925
State Street Association $26,048
The Guild $22,469
Non-Profits $300

Each organization will be providing insurance in accordance with the City's requirements for use of the public right of way.

Coordination of the Event

This event is coordinated through the Mayor's Art Fair Committee so that it will run smoothly and be successful. The applicants from the Art Fair Associations and the Washtenaw Non Profits are requesting the street closings per the attached map. In addition, the Washtenaw Non Profits are requesting that fee be retained at the 1997 fee schedule ($300.00) for their organization.

The Art Fair is regulated and addressed in a number of resolutions and ordinances.

? The City Council established the Mayor's Committee on Street Art Fairs in 1979 by Resolution R-101-3-79 and charged this group with the coordination of the event and with advising Council on matters relating to it. The committee was redefined by Resolution R-47-2-97 on Februar...
