Memorandum
Attached for your review and consideration for approval, please find a resolution to authorize the award of a construction contract to Scodeller Construction, Inc. in the amount of $220,436.15 for the sealing of cracks on various major and local streets located throughout the City.

Scope and Schedule
This project consists of crack sealing approximately twenty-four miles of major streets and fifteen miles of minor (local) streets throughout the city to maintain and preserve them in good condition. Respective lists showing the proposed major and local street work locations are attached for reference. Construction is scheduled to begin in late June and to be completed by late September 2016. The exact schedule for each street will be adjusted to best coordinate with scheduled City events, such as Art Fair, U of M home football games, and other construction projects.

Bidding
The proposed work was advertised for bid on City's procurement webpage and on the Michigan Inter-governmental Trade Network (MITN) website with the bidding documents being available to interested contractors. Two bids were received and opened on May 2, 2016. The lowest responsible bid in the amount of $220,436.15 received from Scodeller Construction, Inc. is 49.62% lower than the Engineer's Estimate of $444,259.43. A tabulation of the bids is attached.
