Resolution Suspending Temporarily The City's Sidewalk Repair Program For 2008 And Establishing A Task Force To Study And Make Recommendations For Improvements To The City's Sidewalk Repair Program

Whereas, The City of Ann Arbor undertakes annually a sidewalk repair program;
Whereas, City Councilmembers have concerns regarding certain aspects of how the sidewalk repair program is undertaken; and
Whereas, City Council would like to establish a task force consisting of members of City Council and staff to review the sidewalk repair program, to study possible changes and improvements that could be made to the program and to make recommendations for changes and improvements before work on the sidewalk repair program is begun in 2008;
RESOLVED, That a task force be established to study and make recommendations for changes and improvements to the City's sidewalk repair program;
RESOLVED, That the task force shall consist of five City Councilmembers, one from each ward as determined by the Councilmembers for the ward, and staff selected by the City Administrator, to be selected no later than the December 3, 2007, meeting of City Council;
RESOLVED, That the City's sidewalk repair program for 2008 be suspended temporarily until such time as the task force makes its recommendations for changes and improvements to the City's sidewalk repair program;
RESOLVED, That the foregoing suspension shall not preclude the City from making sidewalk repairs that are not part of the sidewalk repair program and are necessary to eliminate hazards to the health and safety of the public; and
RESOLVED, That the task force shall make every effort to complete its study and make its recommendations before the end of February 2008 so that the sidewalk repair program can proceed in 2008 without undue delay.
