Resolution to Receive Human Rights Commission’s Report Entitled:  Civilian Police Review:  Recommendation for Strengthening Police-Community Relations in Ann Arbor

Body

Whereas, The Ann Arbor Human Rights Commission has thoroughly explored whether the city and residents of Ann Arbor could benefit from the creation and implementation of an advisory commission for its police department; and

 

Whereas, Based on its review and research, the Ann Arbor Human Rights Commission has prepared a report with recommendations on this subject for consideration by the Ann Arbor City Council, entitled Civilian Police Review:  Recommendation for Strengthening Police-Community Relations in Ann Arbor;

 

RESOLVED, That the City Council will receive the report prepared by the Human Rights Commission, and will refer the report to the Interim City Administrator for review and comment by appropriate staff, with the direction that staff comments be prepared for the Council by June 6, 2016; and

 

RESOLVED, That following receipt of staff comments, the City Council will consider and act on the recommendations of the Human Rights Commission contained in the report.
