Resolution to Accept Additional Administration Committee Recommendations Regarding City Administrator Search

Whereas, The City Administrator is selected and approved by the Ann Arbor City Council;
Whereas, The Administrative Committee of the Ann Arbor City Council, which has personnel responsibilities including the performance review of the City Administrator and the City Attorney, will serve as the search committee with the goal of recommending at least three finalists;
Whereas, The Administration Committee initially requested and reviewed a salary matrix from other cities for the City Administrator position and recommended that the posted salary for the new City Administrator be set at a range between $160,000 and $175,000 per year (Resolution 15-1221);
Whereas, Human Resources and Affion, the recruiting consultant, have indicated that the initially posted salary range may not be sufficient to attract qualified, experienced candidates for the position of City Administrator in the current market; and
Whereas, City Council will have the final approval on any salary offered to a successful candidate;
RESOLVED, That the salary range for the position of City Administrator be increased and broadened for purposes of recruiting and discussion with qualified candidates; and
RESOLVED, That Human Resources and Affion are authorized to discuss salary amounts outside of the prior stated range with qualified candidates.
