An Ordinance to Amend Sections 1:272, 1:277, and 1:278 of Chapter 12 (Financing Local Public Improvements) of Title I of the Code of the City of Ann Arbor (Ordinance No. ORD-16-01)
Memorandum
On June 3, 2013, City Council adopted an amendment to Chapter 12 (ORD-13-06) that amended the calculation of the water and sanitary improvement charges for properties connecting to City water mains or sanitary sewers during the period July 1, 2013, through June 30, 2015. The code amendment for this two-year period was intended to be for an interim basis to allow time for the City to retain a consultant to review the City's fees and charges for connections to the water and sanitary sewer systems and make recommendations for revision.
This review is complete and the final report containing the findings and recommendations was transmitted to City Council on August 7, 2015 (and can be found at www.a2gov.org/capitalcoststudy
). The code revisions necessary for adopting the recommendations from the study are being developed and are expected to be brought forth to City Council no later than March 2016. This proposed ordinance is necessary both to extend the period for the interim changes until the time the new code revisions are brought forth to City Council, and to simplify the upcoming code amendments.
