Resolution to Appropriate 100% of the Funds Received from the State of Michigan for Public Act 84 of 2015 for Road Maintenance (8 Votes Required)
Memorandum
Attached is a resolution seeking authorization to appropriate 100% of the funds received from the State of Michigan for Public Act 84 of 2015, which is a one-time allocation of General Funds from the State for road maintenance.

Due to the passing of Public Act 84, the State of Michigan's 2016 budget included an additional one time funds of $260,478,900.00 of General Fund monies to be distributed to Act 51 eligible road agencies based on Public Act 51 distribution formula. The monies are to be distributed in four equal quarterly allotments, beginning in November 2015. The City of Ann Arbor is estimated to receive an estimated additional $1,210,940.97 in road maintenance funding.

Public Services is taking the opportunity offered by the additional funding to focus on some deferred maintenance related items. Those items include pavement markings, pavement repairs, and the replacement of aged and malfunctioning traffic signal equipment. These items and additional expenditures will make noticeable improvements for the motoring public.
