Resolution Recognizing Ann Arbor PTO Thrift Shop, Inc. as a Civic Nonprofit Organization Operating in Ann Arbor for the Purpose of Obtaining a Charitable Gaming License
Memorandum
To obtain a charitable gaming license under Michigan law, a nonprofit organization is required to submit a resolution from its local governing body recognizing it as a community-based organization.

Ann Arbor PTO Thrift Shop, Inc. is a 501(c)3 non-profit resale shop benefitting the Ann Arbor Public Schools, its Parent Teacher Organizations, students (and other 501(c)3 supporting organizations of AAPS students) in support of student enrichment within AAPS academic, arts and athletics programs.

Passage of the attached resolution will allow the Ann Arbor PTO Thrift Shop, Inc. to hold a raffle at the Ann Arbor PTO Thrift Shop, located at 2280 S. Industrial Highway in Ann Arbor, Michigan. Passage of this resolution is required in order to obtain final approval from the Charitable Gaming Division of the Bureau of State Lottery for this event and any future events.

Whereas, P.A. 382 of 1972, as amended, requires that local civic nonprofit organizations be recognized by resolution adopted by the local governmental subdivision in which the organization conducts its principal activities and that a copy of said resolution be filed with any application for a license to conduct a bingo, raffle or charity game(s);

Whereas, Ann Arbor PTO Thrift Shop, Inc. has requested that it be recognized as a nonprofit organization operating in the community for the purpose of obtaining a charitable gaming license; and
