PROCLAMATION
Honoring the 50th Anniversary of our Sister City Relationship with Tuebingen, Germany
WHEREAS, the year 2015 marks the 50th year of participation in the Sister City program between the government and the people of Tuebingen, Germany; and
WHEREAS, A resolution by City Council of Ann Arbor, Michigan extended an invitation to the City of Tuebingen, Germany, to become a Sister-City in the People to People program and invited the people of Tuebingen to participate by virtue of resolution which was approved on June 1, 1965; and
WHEREAS, the people and government of Tuebingen, Germany and Ann Arbor, Michigan have participated in a Sister City capacity for 50 years for the purpose of creating goodwill and understanding between the people of our two great nations; and
WHEREAS, the relationship between our two cities has been continually nurtured during these 50 years by members of our community who have worked as goodwill ambassadors and organized the cultural exchanges between our two Sister Cities; and
WHEREAS, the City of Ann Arbor wishes to recognize the following people for their continuous efforts to spread goodwill and enhance our cultural awareness: Anne Cox, Brigitte and Christopher Maassen, Lisa MacDonald, Carolyn & Christoph Melcher, Cecelia and Al Paas, Marianne & Hans Rauer and Grace Shackman; and
WHEREAS, the City of Ann Arbor wishes to recognize the following organizations for their hospitality in welcoming and spreading goodwill to our Sister City visitors: Ann Arbor SPARK, the Ann Arbor District Library, Washtenaw Community College and the Ann Arbor Convention and Visitor's Bureau; and
WHEREAS, The City of Ann Arbor commends these citizens for their continued involvement and fostering of international relations through the Sister City Exchange program
