Resolution to Close Part of East Washington Street for the Winter Warriors Fundraising Event on Saturday, February 1, 2014
Memorandum
Attached for your consideration is a request to close part of East Washington Street for the Winter Warriors Fundraising Event on Saturday, February 1, 2014, from 8:00 AM to 7:00 PM. The actual event will take place from 12:00 Noon until 5:00 PM. The additional time will be used for setup, take down and cleanup. The sponsor, Arbor Brewing Company (ABC), has formed a partnership with the Delonis Center to help terminate hunger and end homelessness. In early 2014, ABC will brew a batch of Terminator and $1 from each Terminator sold will be donated to the Delonis Center, leading up to the Winter Warriors Fundraiser on February 1st. Winter Warriors is an event hosted by ABC for locals to brave the elements and dine outside on the patio and this year includes plans to have an outdoor beer garden for this event. A DJ will spin records from 12:00 noon until 5:00 PM. This fundraiser will benefit the Delonis Center and support their mission to terminate hunger and end homelessness one person at a time.

Access to the Washington Street Parking structure will not be impacted by this closure as the street will be closed from the alley (also to remain open) to Main Street.

The sponsor will submit an application for approval from the State of Michigan Liquor Control Commission for temporary sales, service and consumption of alcoholic beverages in the defined areas pursuant to the M.L.C.C. regulations. The sponsor also agrees to obtain all necessary permits, to provide evidence of proper liability insurance as required, and to comply with all City regulations governing the use of the streets.

Notification of the street closing will be provided through the City’s website and the ABC staff will also mail/drop off event notification to all neighboring businesses and residents with event plans and contact information for any concern...
