Memorandum
Attached for your consideration and approval is a request from the University of Michigan to close North University from Thayer to Fletcher for activities from 12:00 PM to 12:00 AM on Friday, November 8, 2013 for the launch of the University's capital campaign.  
 
The Festival and Afterglow will provide live music, entertainment, activities, free food and drinks and giveaways.  The event itself will begin at 5:00 p.m. with the additional time to be used for set-up and clean-up.

Body
Whereas, The City has received a request from the University of Michigan to close North University from Thayer to Fletcher from 12:00 PM to 12:00 AM on Friday, November 8, 2013 for the launch of the University's capital campaign;
 
Whereas, The University of Michigan agrees to obtain all necessary permits, pay applicable permit (fee)s, provide evidence of proper liability insurance as required, to comply with all City regulations governing the use of the streets and will reimburse the City for City's event related expenses; and
 
Whereas, Notification of the street closing will be provided through the City website and by the University's Communications Office;
 
RESOLVED, That City Council approve the closing of North University from Thayer to Fletcher from 12:00 PM to 12:00 AM on Friday, November 8, 2013 for the University of Michigan's Victors for Michigan Campaign.
