Memorandum
Attached for your consideration is a resolution to approve the closing of certain streets for the Ann Arbor Thanksgiving Day Turkey Trot on Thursday, November 28, 2013 from 5:00 A.M. to 12:00 P.M.

The Sponsor, Good Boy Events, is an event company based in Southeast Michigan and has donated generously to various charity organizations over the past eight years. Partial proceeds from this event will go towards animal shelters around the Great Lakes State, local high school sports teams, local church groups and food banks. Good Boy has hosted Ann Arbor Thanksgiving Day Turkey Trot on Thanksgiving Day for the last seven years with last year’s participation exceeding 1,750 runners.

The event will begin at 8:30 A.M. and end at 9:45 A.M. with setup at approximately 5:00 A.M. and cleanup completed by 12:00 P.M. All streets will be reopened as soon as safely possible after the last runners and participants have cleared the affected areas.

· Begin on Liberty and 5th; north to Washington
· Washington to Main South
· Main to Keech left
· Keech to Hoover right
· Hoover to left on Division
· Division to left on Hill
· Hill to left on Green
· Green to right on Hoover
· Hoover to right on Main
· Main to right on Washington
· Washington to right on 5th
· 5th to finish on Liberty

The Sponsor agrees to obtain all necessary permits, to provide evidence of proper liability insurance as required, to comply with all City regulations governing the use of the streets, and will reimburse the city for all event expenses.

Notification of the street closings will be provided through the City’s website. Impact to businesses will be minimal as most on the route will be closed for the holiday. Sponsor will also notify electronic and local print media (i.e. MLive.com and The Observer).
