PROCLAMATION
In Memoriam of
Victor C. Turner, Jr.
March 18, 2013
 
 
WHEREAS,      Victor C. Turner, Jr. was one of the longest serving Commissioners in the history of the City of Ann Arbor's Human Rights Commission; and  
 
WHEREAS,      He was committed to the continuing fight for human and civil rights for all of Ann Arbor's citizens. The Human Rights Commission was successful, thanks to the many contributions of Victor C. Turner, Jr.; and
 
WHEREAS,      it was virtually impossible to meet Vic Turner and not have a positive response from the encounter.  He was highly respected and admired for his willingness to remain in any process until success was attained; and  
 
WHEREAS,      Victor C. Turner, Jr. was an asset to the community at large.  He could find a positive in all of life's endeavors. Victor's warmth, charm, winning smile and easy going personality contributed to his many successes in life and he will be greatly missed by his friends, associates and the greater Ann Arbor community.
NOW THEREFORE, I, John Hieftje, Mayor of Ann Arbor, Michigan proclaim Victor C. Turner, Jr., as Commissioner Emeritus of the Human Rights Commission from this day forward.  In recognition of these personal and volunteer endeavors conducted for the greater good of our community, we commemorate him.  May he always be remembered.
