Memorandum
Attached for your consideration is a resolution that authorizes a one-year contract in the amount of $142,000.00 with Saladino Construction Co. for miscellaneous concrete repairs throughout the City.  The resolution also authorizes an option to extend the contract with Saladino Construction Co. for two additional one-year periods for a total of $426,000.00 with the same terms and conditions subject to the annual appropriation of funds in FY14 and FY15.
 
The contract is a unit price contract for concrete repairs throughout the City.  The contract amount is based on available funds and needed replacements.
 
Requests for bids were posted on BidNet and bids were received from three contractors. After evaluating the bids, staff determined that the prices were competitive and recommends Saladino Construction Co. to be awarded the contract.  The bid tabulation is attached.  Funding for this work is budgeted in the Public Services Area, Field Operations Unit maintenance budgets for FY13.
 
Saladino Construction Co. received Contract Compliance approval on September 22, 2011 and Living Wage approval on April 23, 2012.

Whereas, Sealed bids for Miscellaneous Concrete Repair were received on June 20, 2012, and Saladino Construction Co. was the lowest responsible bidder;
 
Whereas, The Public Services Area recommends approval of a one-year contract with Saladino Construction Company, with the option to extend the contract for two additional one-year periods under the same terms and conditions;
 
Whereas, $142,000.00 is available in the FY13 Public Services Area, Field Operations Unit, Maintenance Budgets;
 
Whereas, It is anticipated that sufficient funds will be appropriated in the FY14 and FY15 Public Services Area, Field Operations Unit, maintenance budgets should the City elect to exercise its option and extend the terms and conditions of the contract; and
 
Whereas, Saladino Construction Co. received Contract Compliance approval on September 22, 2011 and received Living Wage approval on April 23, 2012;
 
RESOLVED, That City Council approves the contract, per Bid No. ITB - 4237, with Saladino Construction Company, in the amount of $142,000.00 for one year with the option to extend the contract for two additional one-year periods for Miscellaneous Concrete Repairs upon appropriation of funds in the FY14 and FY15 budgets for a total estimated amount for the three years of $426,000.00;
 
RESOLVED, That the Mayor and City Clerk be authorized and directed to execute said contract and the extensions thereof after approval as to form by the City Attorney and approval as to substance by the City Administrator; and
 
RESOLVED, That the City Administrator be authorized to take all necessary administrative actions to implement this resolution.
