Resolution to Approve Closure of East Liberty between South Division and South Fifth for Sonic Lunch Performances for the Remaining Events on July 11, July 25, August 1, August 8 and August 15, 2024 from 7:00 A.M. until 3:00 P.M.
Memorandum
Attached for your consideration is a request from the Bank of Ann Arbor, sponsor of Sonic Lunch, to close Liberty Street between South Fifth and Division Streets for the remaining weeks in the summer season. June 27, August 22 and August 29 have been previously approved for street closures at R-24-129. Crowds for events have proven to exceed the needed space in Liberty Plaza and the street closures will allow for spillage into the street.
The sponsor agrees to obtain all necessary permits, to provide evidence of proper liability insurance as required, to comply with all City Regulations governing the use of the street and will reimburse the City for all event expenses.
Notification of the street closings will be provided through the City's website, electronic notification via GovDelivery and sponsor efforts with restaurant partners, radio, social media and posting of flyers.
The event has been coordinated with all relevant City service areas for the purpose of traffic control and for the protection of the health and safety of the participants and the general public.
