Resolution to Approve Street Closure of Washington between Fletcher and Thayer Streets for the University of Michigan GoBlueMix Welcome Celebration on Friday, August 29, 2025 from 2:30 PM until Midnight
Memorandum
The attached resolution is requesting approval to close Washington between Fletcher and Thayer Streets for the University of Michigan GoBlueMix Welcome Celebration on Friday, August 29, 2025 from 2:30 PM until Midnight. The actual event runs from 8:00 PM until 11:00 PM with the additional time to be used for set-up and breakdown.

GoBlueMix is offering a thrilling zipline, bumper cars, inflatable, and carnival games for an unforgettable evening at the University of Michigan. This is a free and student-centered event.

While this event is intended for University of Michigan students, community members will be able to enjoy elements of the program (i.e. music). Certain aspects will be reserved solely for students with valid UM ID (novelty activities, food from UM catering, etc).

The sponsoring unit, the University of Michigan Center for Campus Involvement, has stated that police presence will be handled by the UM Police Department.

Notification of the street closure will be through the City's website and GovDelivery, and resources through the University of Michigan.

The sponsor agrees to obtain all necessary permits, to provide evidence of proper liability insurance as required, to comply with all City and state regulations governing the use of the streets and will reimburse the City for all event expenses.
