An Ordinance to Amend Sections 5.18, 5.20, 5.29 and 5.37 of Chapter 55 (Unified Development Code) of Title V of the Code of the City of Ann Arbor (Solid Waste Terms) CPC Recommendation: Approval (6 yes, 0 no)
Memorandum
Amendments are proposed to Chapter 55 Unified Development Code (UDC) corresponding with amendments to update and add new definitions and revise the provisions for solid waste storage and collection to the Solid Waste Regulations in 2024 and 2026, and Chapter 26 Solid Waste by adoption of Ordinance 25-35 also in 2026. Overlapping terms between the Solid Waste and Unified Development Code chapters are: curb cart, dumpster, solid waste, solid waste containers, solid waste point of collection, solid waste point of storage.

Six sections of the UDC are proposed to be amended for consistency:

* Section 5.18 Special Dimensional and Site Layout Standards to reference curb carts.
* Section 5.20 Landscaping, Screening and Buffering, Subsection 5.20.6 Solid Waste Containers, to reference solid waste container points of storage. Additional amendments are also proposed to this subsection, including its heading, to clarify when, why, and how to screen and buffer solid waste container points of storage.
* Section 5.29 Specific Procedures, Subsection 5.29.1 Zoning Permits, to reference dumpster points of storage.
* Section 5.29 Specific Procedures, Subsection 5.29.8 Required Plan Information, Paragraph D Dimensional Layout Plan, to reference solid waste container points of storage and points of collection.
* Section 5.29 Specific Procedures, Subsection 5.29.8 Required Plan Information, Paragraph H Landscape Plan, to reference solid waste container points of storage and points of collection.
* Section 5.37 Definitions, Subsection 5.37.2 Specific Terms, Open Space, to reference solid waste container points of storage and points of collection.
