Memorandum
The attached resolution approves the City of Ann Arbor's acceptance of the Michigan Department of Labor and Economic Opportunity (LEO) Firefighters Turnout Gear Grant funding opportunity. The grant application has already been approved; this resolution is for City Council to approve the grant agreement and to appropriate the award.

The initial application was for $245,000.00 for 70 sets of gear. However, due to the number of departments applying, the awarded amount was reduced to $234,500.00.

Budget/Fiscal Impact: This grant will extend over FY25 and FY26. The grant allocated $3,500.00 per set of turnout gear for each firefighter. Thiry-four sets will be purchased in FY25 ($119,000.00) with the remaining thirty-three sets in FY26 ($115,500.00). The FY25 cost per set of gear that the fire department has been using is $3,846.64. The fire department can cover the delta of $11,785.76 in our FY25 budget.
