Memorandum
Attached for your review and approval is Amendment No.1 to the Professional Services Agreement with Tetra Tech, Inc. for 2015 Geotechnical Services.

It is necessary that the Project Management Services Unit (PMSU) perform soil borings, pavement cores, laboratory testing, and all associated work at various locations throughout the City of Ann Arbor during the design phase of public infrastructure projects. These soil borings and pavement cores identify existing soil type, soil characteristics, pavement thickness, and potential environmental contamination. This information is critical to the success of any design project. Professional geotechnical and environmental engineering consultants typically perform this work, as the City does not have the necessary equipment or personnel.

A Request for Proposals (RFP-941) for Geotechnical Services was issued in September of 2015. Proposals from six consulting firms were received on September 30, 2015. Based on their professional qualifications, past experience with the City, available resources, and fee quotations, the team selected Tetra Tech, Inc.

Budget Impact
Amendment Number 1 to the professional services agreement with Tetra Tech, Inc., in the amount of $5,650.00, increases their total authorized amount to $30,550.00. The cost of this amendment is available in the existing Fifth Avenue (Kingsley to Catherine) Road Reconstruction project (TR-SC-14-07), for which the additional work was performed.

Tetra Tech, Inc. complies with the City's Non-Discrimination and Living Wage ordinances.
