Memorandum
This ordinance will rezone a 1.5-acre addition to Hansen Nature Area. The land was donated by Avalon Nonprofit Housing Corporation as part of their Hickory Way apartments development. Only an ordinance to amend the UDC and its Zoning Map can change the zoning designation of any land, including land purchased or accepted by the City. The PL zoning designation is intended for publicly owned land used for public purposes.
The proposed zoning is consistent and coordinates with the adjacent zoning, the existing land use and the surrounding land uses, the City's Master Plan and policies. The City Planning Commission, at its meeting of November 19, 2019, recommended approval of the request.
