Solid Waste Regulations Update

Memorandum

Attached for your review are proposed amendments to the Solid Waste Regulations as enabled by Section 2:10 of Chapter 26 (Solid Waste), Title II (Utilities and Services) of the Code of Ordinances of the City of Ann Arbor. These Regulations shall take effect 30 days after being filed with the City Clerk unless modified or disapproved by the City Council. These Regulations were filed with the City Clerk on December 22, 2025.

 

This update supports proposed revisions to City Code Chapter 26 Solid Waste Management, aligning definitions, correcting conflicting information, and reformatting to the consistent with City Code. This update follows a series of recent revisions from December 2024, which added solid waste cart placement information with respect to bike lanes, and a more robust revision in May 2025, bringing the Regulations current from the prior 2011 version.
