Resolution to Accept a Sidewalk Easement at 306 Hill Street from The Regents of the University of Michigan (8 Votes Required)
Memorandum
The City has requested this easement to ensure sufficient width of public sidewalk access along S. Division St. adjacent to the new University dorm at 306 Hill St. In order to avoid street tree impacts, the public sidewalk for this project was constructed partly on University property.
City staff have discussed this with University staff and it is expected that the Regents will approve the grant of easement at an upcoming meeting. This resolution accepts the easement contingent upon Regent approval.

Whereas, The Regents of the University of Michigan, a Michigan Constitutional corporation, is the owner of property commonly known as 306 Hill Street, Ann Arbor, Michigan 48109; and
Whereas, The City has requested that the University of Michigan grant an easement for public sidewalk as shown and described below and on the attached easement and map:
BEGINNING AT THE NORTHEAST CORNER OF LOT 1, BLOCK 6, JOHN F. LAWRENCE'S ADDITION TO THE CITY OF ANN ARBOR, WASHTENAW COUNTY, MICHIGAN, AS RECORDED IN LIBER 1 OF PLATS PAGE 25; THENCE SOUTH 726 FEET ALONG THE WESTERLY RIGHT OF WAY LINE OF S. DIVISION ST.; THENCE WEST 1.5 FEET ALONG THE NORTHERLY RIGHT OF WAY LINE OF HOOVER AVE.; THENCE NORTH 726 FEET; THENCE EAST 1.5 FEET ALONG THE SOUTHERLY RIGHT OF WAY LINE OF HILL ST. TO THE POINT OF BEGINNING.
RESOLVED, That the City of Ann Arbor hereby accepts this grant of easement contingent upon approval by the Regents of the University of Michigan.
