Attached for your consideration is a resolution to approve the closing of Maynard Street between East Liberty and East William Streets for the Firefighter Spray Park in the District on Saturday, July 4, 2026 from 8:00 AM until 2:00 PM. This event will occur after the Jaycees 4th of July Parade.
The State Street District and the Ann Arbor Fire Department will be hosting a FREE event in the 300 block of Maynard. Access to the Parking Structure will remain. Firefighters will be spraying water from fire trucks for children to run through and cool off. Children will also be able to spray a real fire hose. Fire apparatus and equipment will also be on display.

Whereas, The City has received a request to approve the closing of Maynard Street between East Liberty and East William Streets for the Firefighter Spray Park in the District on Saturday, July 4, 2026 from 8:00 AM until 2:00 PM;
Whereas, The street closure will be signed, barricaded and properly supervised;
Whereas, The Sponsor agrees to obtain all necessary permits, to provide evidence of proper liability insurance as required, and to comply with all City regulations governing the use of the streets; and
Whereas Notification of the street closing will be provided through the City’s website, GovDelivery and through the State Street District;
RESOLVED, That City Council approve the closing of Maynard Street between East Liberty and East William Streets for the Firefighter Spray Park in the District on Saturday, July 4, 2026 from 8:00 AM until 2:00 PM.
