Resolution to Approve an Amendment to the Contract with Bornor Restoration, Inc. for the Farmers Market Structure Rehabilitation, ITB #4434 ($5850.00)
Memorandum
Attached for your review and action is a resolution to approve an amendment to the contract with Bornor Restoration, Inc. for Farmers Market Structure Rehabilitation project, ITB 4344.

Bornor Restoration, Inc. was selected as the lowest responsible bidder with a cost of $24,969.00 based on specifications outlined in ITB #4434. The project was to repair aging infrastructure of the market canopies.

Significant deterioration of the Farmers Market steel structure was due to leaky downspouts, snow and salt accumulating on the base plates and columns, and concrete deterioration due to age and vehicle damage. The project included removing rust and painting columns and base plates, repairing downspouts, replacing concrete column bases and curbs, and replacing parts of the rafters.

The project engineer evaluated the structure for deterioration, but once the paint and rust was removed, several additional areas surfaced that required repair as well as areas in worse condition than originally anticipated.

The contract amendment amount of $5850.00 exceeds $25,000.00 and must be approved by City Council. The work was completed so as not to delay the project.
