Title

Resolution Requesting that the City Administrator Determine the Cost and Feasibility of Supplemental Snow and Ice Removal of our Pedestrian Infrastructure to Improve Pedestrian Safety

Body

Whereas, City snowplows unavoidably place snow and ice on sidewalks, driveway aprons, bus stops and crosswalk ramps;

Whereas, Crosswalks, while in streets, are a critical component of the pedestrian infrastructure; and

Whereas, Pedestrian safety requires that crosswalks, sidewalks, bus stops and crosswalk ramps be reasonably clear of snow and ice;

RESOLVED, That City Council requests that the City Administrator determine the cost and feasibility of supplemental snow and ice removal of our pedestrian infrastructure to improve pedestrian safety; and

RESOLVED, That the supplemental snow and ice removal be identified as two projects for purposes of determining cost and feasibility: 1.) removing snow and ice that city plows unavoidably dump on sidewalks, driveway aprons, bus stops and crosswalk ramps and 2.) maintaining crosswalks to sidewalk winter maintenance standards.
