Resolution to Approve the Closing of Maynard Street for the Saved by the District Special Event on Saturday, October 15, 2016 from 7:00 A.M. until Midnight
Memorandum
Attached for your consideration is a request from the State Street Area Association to close Maynard Street between Liberty and William on Saturday, October 15, 2016 from 7:00 AM until midnight for the Saved by the District event. The actual event will take place from 12:00 PM until 11:00 PM, with the additional time to be used for set-up and break-down of the event. The parking structure will remain open and accessible via Thompson Street.
The State Street Area Association is excited to bring entertainment, including karaoke and music to downtown Ann Arbor. There may possibly be live bands but this is yet to be determined. The Association will have outdoor dining as well as several tents for beer sales and seating for those enjoying the entertainment.
The sponsor will submit an application for approval from the State of Michigan Liquor Control Commission for temporary sales, service and consumption of alcoholic beverages in the defined areas, pursuant to the MLCC regulations.
The sponsor agrees to obtain all necessary permits, to provide evidence of proper liability insurance as required, to comply with all City regulations governing the use of the street, and will reimburse the City for all event expenses. Notification of the street closings will be provided through the City's website, GovDelivery and the sponsor's website and social media. Neighboring businesses have been informed of this event.
