Title
Resolution to Approve a Purchase Order to Midtown Ann Arbor, LLC for Reimbursement of Water Supply System Work ($96,143.00)
Memorandum
The approvals and Development Agreement for the Midtown Ann Arbor Condominium, also known as "Avant," require various utility improvements to serve the proposed development, including a water pressure booster station, which are to be dedicated to the City.
During the review of the water pressure booster station plans, the City requested that the developer perform additional work for the benefit of the City's water supply system:
* Duty pump capacity increase - 50 hp to 100 hp high flow $10,498
* Pump room increase due to larger duty pumps $10,140
* Generator capacity increase - 80 kw to 150 kw $15,000
* Generator room increase due to larger generator $ 4,732
* Two water main extensions stubbed to adjacent parcels $55,781
Subtotal: $96,143
Having the developer do this work during its project is more efficient and cost effective and avoids the City having to make these improvements after approval of the dedication when they would be more costly.
Because the water supply system work the developer performed was at the City's request and for the benefit of the City's water supply system, the City needs to reimburse the developer for the cost of that work.
Staff requests approval of a purchase order to Midtown Ann Arbor LLC in the amount of $96,143.00 to reimburse it for work it performed for the benefit the City's water supply system.
Budget/Fiscal Impact: Funds for this purchase order are available in the approved Water Supply System Capital Budget.
