Title
Resolution To Approve Amendment No. 1 to the Professional Services Agreement with Wade Trim Associates, Inc. for Gallup Park Vehicle and Pedestrian Bridge Design RFP No. 22-51 ($341,127.06)
Memorandum
The City of Ann Arbor Parks and Recreation Services Unit has contracted with Wade Trim Associates, Inc. for the design engineering of the new Gallup Park vehicle and pedestrian bridge. The original professional services agreement was approved by Resolution #22-244 on 08/04/2022 in the amount of $285,524.06.
During the design process, several scope changes were made that resulted in additional work. These included changes in the location and type of riprap round the bridge that required additional hydraulic modeling and scour analysis. Changes were also made based on an analysis of traffic sightlines and stopping distance which required that the profile grades on the bridge had to be lowered, and the alignment of the roadway had to be adjusted. There were design changes related to the extent of the bridge return walls and the number of piers. There was also additional survey time needed for unforeseen utility situations encountered during the subsurface utility engineering (SUE) work. This resulted in additional services provided by the design team in the amount of $55,603.00 in professional fees.
Budget/Fiscal Impact: Funding is available from the American Rescue Plan Act funds which was allocated by City Council resolution R-22-096. It is requested that $55,603 be approved for Amendment 1 from the American Rescue Plan Act funds. The total amount of the contract with Amendment 1 will be $341,127.06.
