Resolution Recognizing Home of New Vision as a Civic Nonprofit Organization Operating in Ann Arbor for the Purpose of Obtaining a Charitable Gaming License
Memorandum
To obtain a charitable gaming license under Michigan law, a nonprofit organization is required to submit a resolution from its local governing body recognizing it as a community-based organization.

Home of New Vision is a 501(c)3 civic nonprofit agency located in Ann Arbor that provides a full continuum of substance use disorder (SUD) prevention, crisis treatment, and peer-based services to meet people wherever they are in their journey. Home of New Vision offers residential treatment for SUD, eight transitional houses, and outpatient therapy. Programs also include the Women's Specialty Program which removes barriers for mothers in danger of losing their children and Recovery Opioid Overdose Team (ROOT) which responds to overdose crisis calls 24/7 and has seven Narcan distribution/vending machines in Ann Arbor.

Home of New Vision is seeking their charitable gaming license to raise funds to continue and expand their vital programs, enhancing their capacity to serve the people of Ann Arbor and Washtenaw County. Passage of the attached resolution will allow Home of New Vision to hold local events such as bingo, raffles, or charity games. Passage of this resolution is required in order to obtain final approval from the Charitable Gaming Division of the Bureau of State Lottery for any future events.
