The attached resolution approves the hiring of Maura Thomson as the Executive Director of the Downtown Development Authority (DDA).

Body
Whereas, Public Act 57 of 2018 the Recodified Tax Increment Financing Act (PA 57), specifically, MCL 125.4205, authorizes the DDA Board to employ and fix the compensation of a director subject to the approval of the governing body of the municipality;
Whereas, PA 57 provides that the director shall serve at the pleasure of the DDA Board, and shall be the chief executive officer of the DDA;
Whereas, Maura Thomson is currently the Interim Executive Director of the DDA and has been since December 8, 2022, and previously served as the Interim Director from December 1, 2020 until January 19, 2022;
Whereas, The DDA Board met on January 17, 2024, and passed a Resolution to Hire Maura Thomson as the DDA Executive Director;
Whereas, The DDA and Maura Thompson agreed to terms of employment formalized in the Employment Agreement between the DDA and Maura K. Thomson; and
Whereas, The terms of employment include participation in City benefit programs provided to non-union employees under the terms and agreements of such individual plans, and an annual base salary of $150,000.00;
RESOLVED, That the Ann Arbor City Council approves the DDA Board’s hire of Maura K. Thomson as Executive Director of the Downtown Development Authority.
