Title
City of Ann Arbor Election Commission Resolution to Consolidate Precincts and Establish Absent Voter Count Boards and Receiving Boards for the AAPS Special Election to be Held in the City of Ann Arbor on Tuesday, May 8, 2018
Body
Whereas, The City of Ann Arbor Election Commission has determined that a Special Election will be held in the City of Ann Arbor on Tuesday, May 8, 2018 in all City wards;
Whereas, The City of Ann Arbor has determined that precinct consolidation would be appropriate for this election because of an anticipated low voter turnout;
Whereas, Fifteen polling locations have two or more precincts located in the building for each site that could easily be consolidated causing minimal inconvenience to the voters;
Whereas, Voters in Precincts 1-1, 1-4, 1-12 and 4-1 are being relocated to temporary polling places due to construction, which will allow for consolidation at the temporary locations;
Whereas, MCL 168.659 allows for the City Election Commission to consolidate two or more precincts in local elections, provided the new consolidated precinct does not exceed 5,000 registered voters, excluding those voters on the Inactive Voter File;
RESOLVED, That the City of Ann Arbor Election Commission hereby directs the City Clerk to conduct said Special Election on Tuesday, May 8, 2018, by consolidating the following precincts for this election only, recognizing that consolidation is possible for precincts co-located in the same building, and that voter turnout is anticipated to be low;
