Resolution to Authorize a Best Source Purchase Order with Jack Doheny Companies Inc. for the Purchase of Parts and Service for Water, Sanitary and Storm Sewer Equipment (Not to Exceed $100,000.00)
Memorandum
The proposed resolution authorizes the purchase of truck and equipment replacement parts with related accessories and services in an amount not to exceed $100,000.00 annually from Jack Doheny Companies Inc. of Northville, MI.
Jack Doheny Companies Inc. remains the best source for City procurement of supplies, parts and repairs of Vactor Manufacturing Inc. equipment, including their Vactor, Ramjet and Guzzler product lines. The geographic proximity of Jack Doheny Companies Inc., in relation to the Wheeler Service Center, offers advantageous logistics to minimize equipment downtime. The nearest authorized competitor remains approximately 70 miles in distance from the Wheeler Service Center.
The City's four vacuum trucks all use operational consumables manufactured by Vactor. The requested amount for each fiscal year for parts, supplies and operational consumables is based on historical data for said utility vacuum trucks.
The proposed purchase order would be allocated between Public Works utility work areas as follows:
Budget/Fiscal Impact: Funding for the purchase of vacuum truck consumables, equipment and parts is available in the approved FY27 Operation and Maintenance budgets of the Water Supply System, Sewage Disposal System and Stormwater System Funds.
Jack Doheny Companies Inc. complies with the requirements of the City's conflict of interest and non-discrimination ordinances.
