The attached resolution is requesting approval to close Thompson Street between East Madison and RL Kennedy Drive for the University of Michigan Munger Graduate Residence Hall Dedication Ceremony from 6:00 AM until 6:00 PM on Wednesday, September 30, 2015. The event itself will start at 2:30 PM and end at 4:00 PM with the additional time to be used for set-up and break-down of the event.
The sponsor, the University of Michigan Office of Development, is celebrating the opening of the new Munger Graduate Residence Hall with a public dedication ceremony to be followed by an open house. The ceremony will include remarks from University Regents, Charlie Munger and University of Michigan President Mark Schlissel.
Notification of the street closure will be through the City's website and GovDelivery, press releases and other resources through the University of Michigan.
The sponsor agrees to obtain all necessary permits, to provide evidence of proper liability insurance as required, to comply with all City and state regulations governing the use of the streets, and will reimburse the City for all event expenses.
