Resolution to Appoint Jason Forsberg as the City of Ann Arbor Interim Police Chief
Memorandum
The attached resolution provides for the appointment of Jason Forsberg as the Ann Arbor Interim Police Chief, effective May 25, 2019.
Mr. Forsberg is currently serving as the Deputy Chief of Police for the City of Ann Arbor. Upon the retirement of Chief Robert Pfannes, Mr. Forsberg will serve as the Interim Chief. Mr. Forsberg has served the City of Ann Arbor with distinction since he started working as the Deputy Chief of Police in January of 2018. Prior to his hire in Ann Arbor, he served in the University of Michigan Police Department for 21 years, ascending to the rank of Deputy Chief of Police.
Mr. Forsberg will serve in this capacity until a permanent Chief of Police is appointed.

Whereas, Jason Forsberg is currently employed by the Ann Arbor Police Department as Deputy Chief;
Whereas, Section 12:1(b) of the Ann Arbor City Charter provides that the Police Chief shall be appointed by the City Council on recommendation of the City Administrator; and
Whereas, Jason Forsberg is highly qualified to serve and is recommended to Council for appointment as Ann Arbor’s Interim Police Chief.
RESOLVED, That City Council does hereby appoint Jason Forsberg as the City of Ann Arbor Interim Police Chief, effective May 25, 2019.
