Memorandum
This memorandum and resolution requests approval of Amendment No. 1 to the Professional Services Agreement with Spalding DeDecker Associates, Inc. (SD) for General Civil Engineering and Surveying Services. City Council approved a professional services agreement for $500,000.00 with SD on August 7, 2023 as part of Resolution No. R-23-277.
Under the current contract, SD has provided engineering and surveying services for a variety of projects, including the Dexter Road Sidewalk and Stormwater Improvements Project. They have demonstrated themselves to be experienced in a wide range of disciplines, responsive, and cost effective in meeting the diverse needs on complex engineering tasks.
SD designed the Dexter Road Sidewalk and Stormwater Improvements Project, during which the scope of the design expanded to include additional sidewalk gap elimination and sidewalk repair, as well as additional storm water management analyses. City staff has also requested that they provide construction staking for the project. Due to the additional design work requested by the City, as well as other requested work through the contract, the total amount authorized on this contract by Council will soon be expended. This Resolution will increase the authorized amount for the contract to allow SD to complete their work on the Dexter Road project through an amendment.
SD complies with the requirements of the Non-Discrimination and Living Wage ordinances.
Budget/Fiscal Impact: Funding for these services is available within the approved Dexter Road Sidewalk and Stormwater Improvements project budget.
