Resolution to Approve a Construction Contract with Lang Constructors, Inc. for Customer Service Area Safety Upgrades (Sourcewell Contract #091620-GGI) ($186,030.00) (8 Votes Required)
Memorandum
The proposed resolution authorizes a construction contract with Lang, Constructors, Inc. to perform safety upgrades and minor lighting & fire suppression changes to the Customer Service area on the 1st Floor of the Municipal Center in an amount not to exceed $186,030.00 in accordance with the Detailed Scope of Work.
Lang Constructors, Inc. is contracted through Gordian who is a Sourcewell cooperative partner authorized to perform work in Washtenaw County, MI.
The resolution includes a $18,600.00 contingency, approximately 10%, to cover any unknown conditions or potential scope change orders to be approved by the City Administrator if necessary.
Budget/Fiscal Impact: Funding for this project is available in the fund balance of the Risk Fund. It is being requested that $186,030.00 and the $18,600 contingency be appropriated to the Risk Fund for this project.

Whereas, The Customer Service counter needs resistant glass, lighting and fire suppression updates to address safety concerns;
Whereas, Facilities & Safety have reviewed the conditions and determined that updates are warranted;
Whereas, Lang Constructors, Inc. complies with the City’s Conflict of Interest and Non-discrimination Ordinances; and
Whereas, Funding for this project is available in the Risk Fund fund balance;
RESOLVED, That the City Council approves a construction contract with Lang Constructors, Inc. in the amount of $186,030.00 for the Customer Service Area Safety Upgrades Project;
