Title
Resolution Recognizing Ann Arbor Firefighters Charity as a Civic Nonprofit Organization Operating in Ann Arbor for the Purpose of Obtaining a Charitable Gaming License
Memorandum
To obtain a charitable gaming license under Michigan law, a nonprofit organization is required to submit a resolution from its local governing body recognizing it as a community-based organization.
Ann Arbor Firefighters Charity is a 501(c)(3) civic nonprofit organization that raises funds to help support those in need and affected by the devastating impact of fire. The money raised is used for programs that send children to burn camps and other fire safety education. It also provides assistance to fire victims and others in need in the community.
Passage of the attached resolution will allow the Ann Arbor Firefighters Charity to hold a raffle at the Sportsmans and Gun Raffle, located in Washtenaw County. Passage of this resolution is required in order to obtain final approval from the Charitable Gaming Division of the Bureau of State Lottery for this event and any future events.
