Solid Waste Regulations Update
Memorandum
Attached for your review are proposed amendments to the Solid Waste Regulations as enabled by Section 2:10 of Chapter 26 (Solid Waste), Title II (Utilities and Services) of the Code of Ordinances of the City of Ann Arbor. These Regulations shall take effect 30 days after being filed with the City Clerk unless modified or disapproved by the City Council. These Regulations were filed with the City Clerk on May 29, 2025.
Prior to the December 18, 2024 update, which addressed where solid waste curbcarts can be placed where there are marked bicycle lanes and bicycle paths, the last update was in 2011. These revisions to the Solid Waste Regulations update definitions; provide clarity on collection frequency and fees; include additional information on points of collection and storage; and provide direction on solid waste container requirements, in addition to correcting outdated information.
