Resolution to Grant $25,000 to the Ann Arbor Housing Development Corporation for “The Road Home”

Whereas, The Elevate: Public Art and Placemaking Program was established by resolution by the DDA Board in June 2024;
Whereas, One of the primary goals of the Elevate program is to elevate history and storytelling;
Whereas, The Ann Arbor Housing Development Corporation (AAHDC) is producing a documentary called “The Road Home” addressing mental health, housing, and homelessness in Washtenaw County;
Whereas, The documentary will be used to educate, foster unity, and garner support for affordable housing projects;
Whereas, The City of Ann Arbor has committed $50,000 for this project and Washtenaw County is expected to contribute at least $100,000;
Whereas, The AAHDC submitted a request for $25,000 from the DDA for this project;
Whereas, This request was reviewed by the DDA Executive Committee on March 11, 2026;
Whereas, This request was presented and reviewed at a DDA Board Work Session on April 15, 2026;
Whereas, The DDA’s Public Art Fund (298) FY26 Budget does have capacity for the requested $25,000;
RESOLVED, The DDA shall provide the AAHDC with a grant of up to $25,000 on a reimbursement basis to support production costs for “The Road Home”;
RESOLVED, The DDA Board authorizes the DDA Executive Director to execute a Grant Agreement with the Ann Arbor Housing Development Corporation for up to $25,000 towards their documentary production expenses, and to administer the grant per the terms therein.
