Resolution to Approve Street Closings for the Shamrocks and Shenanigans 5K Run/Walk - Sunday, March 12, 2023
Memorandum
Attached for your consideration is a resolution to approve the closing of certain streets for the Shamrocks and Shenanigans 5K Run/Walk on March 12, 2023.
The event will run from 8:45 AM to 11:30 AM and will require closing of the following streets from 8:00 AM to 11:30 AM on March 12, 2023:
* S. Main from Stadium to West Jefferson
* Madison from South Fourth to Main
* West Jefferson from Main to South First
* South First from West Jefferson to West Washington
* West Washington from South First to South Ashley
* South Ashley from West Jefferson to West Washington
Streets will be reopened as soon as safely possible, but no later than 11:30 AM. A speaker system will be used to start the race at 8:45 AM. The sponsor agrees to obtain all necessary permits, to provide evidence of proper liability insurance as required, to comply with all City and state regulations governing the use of the streets and will reimburse the City for all event expenses. Notification of the street closings will be provided through the City's website, GovDelivery, flyers and social media.
The event has been coordinated with all relevant City service areas for the purposes of traffic control and for the protection of the health and safety of the participants and the general public.
