Attached for your review and consideration, please find a resolution to approve an amendment to the contract between the City of Ann Arbor and the University of Michigan. This resolution recommends the acceptance of additional federal grant funds from the United States Department of Transportation ("USDOT"), through the University of Michigan (the pass-through entity), for the ATTAIN AACE2.0: The Ann Arbor Connected Environment Reimagined Project for the City of Ann Arbor's work in support of the project.
The project was awarded to the University of Michigan under the USDOT's Highway Research and Development Program as part of the Advanced Transportation Technology and Innovation (ATTAIN) Program that seeks to deploy, install, and operate advanced transportation technologies to improve safety, mobility, efficiency, system performance intermodal connectivity, and infrastructure return on investment. The Project proposes to deploy cellular vehicle-to-everything (C-V2X) technology across an additional 51 sites throughout the city. The City's role as a sub-recipient will be:
* Program Management - participate in project meetings and coordinate task assignments.
* System Engineering Design - provide design input on network, intersection devices placement and integration.
* C-V2X Infrastructure Retrofit - support for field device installation, deploy firewall to accommodate the smart intersection network communication needs.
* C-V2X Intersection Certification Support - related to traffic signal controller configuration.
* Data Collection, Management and Analysis - support data transmission and collection
