Title
Resolution to Approve an Underground Electric Easement at 919 Sunset Road to DTE Electric Company (8 Votes Required)
Memorandum
The City of Ann Arbor Water Treatment Plant (WTP) located at 919 Sunset Road has two DTE electrical feeds for redundancy purposes. DTE has been constructing electrical improvements throughout the City and a part of that work includes upgrading both electrical feeds to the WTP with the goal of improving reliability. This proposed easement allows DTE to install their new Buckler electrical feed to the WTP to replace the aging Argo electrical service. The easement is sized to accommodate a new transformer and underground cabling, ultimately feeding the WTP primary switchgear. This work is necessary to continue redundant power feeds to the WTP which is a critical component for reliable water supply.
The easement has been positioned to have minimal impact to the WTP and its future site plans. The construction work should have minimal impact to the WTP and its neighbors. DTE will be directional drilling the underground cabling in an effort to minimize impact to the tree line on City property that provides screening to the neighbors.
