Title
A Resolution of the Ann Arbor Greenbelt Advisory Commission
Body
Whereas, the City of Ann Arbor and Webster Township have cooperated on the preservation of over 810 acres of farmland and open space from 2006 to present through their respective land preservation programs, and
Whereas, the City of Ann Arbor has contributed over 4.7 million dollars to the purchase of the easements protecting those 810 acres, and
Whereas, the City of Ann Arbor has further contributed over 4.5 million dollars for additional land preservation projects on several hundred acres in Webster Township on its own, and
Whereas the Land Trust Alliance establishes the generally accepted practices and rules of conduct for land preservation agencies in the United States, and
Whereas, the Land Trust Alliance discourages amendments to conservation easements that compromise the agreed upon conservation values in any way, in the strongest possible terms, and
Whereas, the Greenbelt Commission believes that the failure to enforce any properly executed conservation easement will necessarily erode the public's confidence in conservation easements in general, and therefore, wishes to strictly enforce the conservation easements to which it has contributed considerable time and money,
Now, Therefore Be It Resolved that the Ann Arbor Greenbelt Advisory Commission urges the Township of Webster to strictly enforce all of its conservation easements, and all of the conservation values protected therein.
