Title
An Ordinance to Amend Sections 5.29.9.B of Chapter 55 (Unified Development Code) of Title V of the Code of the City of Ann Arbor (Land Divisions) CPC Recommendation: Approval (7 yes, 0 no)
Memorandum
In April of 2024, City Council enacted R-24-109 Resolution to Direct the City Administrator to Implement New Processes and Programs for Housing Development at all Income Levels to Support Housing Affordability.
In response to this directive, Planning Services staff has prepared several ordinance amendments to advance numerous directions from that resolution. Approval of the ordinance proposed here responds to the following direction from R-24-109:
“Amend city ordinance to eliminate land division notifications, since we are required under state law to approve these divisions anyway and the notification services no real purpose in the approval process.”
The proposed ordinance will amend the Unified Development Code (Chapter 55) to remove the mailed notice requirements for land division applications, aligning the required procedures specified in the Unified Development Code with the State Land Division Act.
The City Planning Commission recommended the attached ordinance for approval following a public hearing on March 18, 2025.
