Resolution to Select Interim City Administrator Candidate

Whereas, On August 16, 2021, City Council approved Resolution R-21-327 directing the City Attorney to take steps to initiate a search for an external interim candidate for the position of City Administrator with the assistance of the recruitment firm GovHR;
Whereas, The search was initiated and several candidates were identified by GovHR and the City Attorney that were considered by the Council Administration Committee;
Whereas, On September 7, the Council Administration Committee voted to submit two candidates, Peter T. Burchard and Milton Dohoney Jr., to the entire City Council for consideration;
Whereas, On September 13, 2021 the City Council by Resolution R-21-1627 directed the evaluation of the two finalist candidates through an evaluation process;
Whereas, During the week of September 20, 2021, the candidates were interviewed in three sessions: before of the City Council in a public session, the City Executive Team, and through questions by the HR Director for the benefit of the City Staff;
Whereas, The City Council received feedback from these interview sessions; and
Whereas, The City Council wishes to proceed with next steps in the Interim City Administrator search;
RESOLVED, The City Council authorizes Mayor Christopher Taylor, with the assistance of the City Attorney, to negotiate a proposed contract with Mr. Milton Dohoney, Jr. to serve as the Interim City Administrator, with the approval of the final contract by resolution of the City Council at a regular or special meeting of the City Council as soon as possible, but no later than October 18, 2021.
